Super excited to have secured a June residency & artist collaboration at The Art Vault, Mildura.
Over the residency I will be collaborating with local sign writing legend Terry (Moose) McGown. I met the Merbein based artist back in 2011, on the final day of my first Art Vault residency. Over the 4 weeks residency my plein air landscape drawings had included many of Moose McGowans hand painted signs. I hadn't realised it at the time but as locals responded to my drawings, it was often noted that I had painting one of Moose McGowans signs.  This happened on at least eight occasions. If I recall correctly, on my last days we managed to track Moose down and visited his studio on my last day in Mildura.

Moose has been sign writing in Mildura for over 30 years, acknowledged here through the research of Melbourne academic Stefan Schutt. In this interview Moose describes the installation of the famous Cottee's sign on Tenth Street (Mildura).

Since then we have kept in touch and always talked about a possible collaboration. Now, 4 years later -  it is finally happening!!

Special thanks to The Art Vault for supporting this project and Moose McGowan for his time in advance. See you in June, Mildura!
